The First Full Face Transplant

It happened in 2008, when Dallas Wiens, a young man of just 25 years, Texas resident was electrocuted while working on a lift. Accidentally, his head touched a high voltage cable and burnt his face, eyes burst, facial bones shattered and literally erased his face.

A few months ago, this man underwent the first successful full face transplant performed in the United States. Dallas Wiens may now pursue a new life with the donated face which was introduced by a team of 30 doctors at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

In the following photos, we see Dallas Wiens after the accident, his face shattered with features completely erased … and the new face that he acquired after the successful operations.
